De novo designed ligases validate in lab: 27 of 30 computer-designed enzymes work
AllThingsApx · x · 2026-10-23
A team reports lab validation of de novo ligases designed computationally for pharmaceutically relevant small molecules: 27 out of 30 designs showed hits, selectively catalyzing ligation over hydrolysis, enantioselective for the target chiral amine, and working via the designed active residues per catalytic knockouts. A strong proof that computational enzyme design can transform complex molecule synthesis.
