Codex desktop shipped with no editor: 4-person team bet everything on agents
sujingshen · x · 2026-10-23
When building the Codex desktop app, Tibo's 4-person team made a radical call: ship it with no code editor at all, since they couldn't out-build traditional IDEs. Instead, users are pushed to let agents make every code change. The bet paid off — with multiple agents running for hours, users no longer want to type code themselves, and the product's purpose becomes instantly clear.
