LLMs make code cheap enough that recursive rewrites become tractable, argues researcher

jdpressman argues the barriers to full rewrites are structural, not computability: starting from scratch breaks everything, while working outside-in yields minimal benefit without recursive rewrites. But LLMs make code so cheap to write that 100x more code isn't much of a burden — for software under adversarial pressure, scaling agents and iterating from existing implementations makes recursive rewrites tractable.
