Alignment Journal, a paid-peer-review venue for alignment research, opens submissions
gleech · x · 2026-10-23
Alignment Journal, a new venue for foundational AI alignment research initiated by Marcus Hutter and others, is now open for submissions.
Key differences from traditional journals:
- Reviewers are paid, with bonuses for speed and insight
- Review discussions stay confidential, but every accepted paper ships with a public "review summary"
- Papers are judged against a fixed acceptance bar, not against other submissions
- Papers under review are listed publicly; researchers can self-nominate to review
The senior editorial board includes Dylan Hadfield-Menell, Vanessa Kosoy, Jan Kulveit, Andrew Saxe and Benjamin Van Roy; the advisory board includes Scott Aaronson, Paul Christiano, Geoffrey Irving and Victoria Krakovna. Preprints can be submitted anytime, in any format.
