Perplexity launches Batch API on Agent API: up to 50k requests with full agent loop
AravSrinivas · x · 2026-10-23
Perplexity CEO Arav Srinivas announced the Batch API is live on the Agent API, supporting up to 50,000 requests per JSONL file.
Key points:
- Each request runs the full agent loop with full support for built-in websearch and fetchurl in batch mode
- Use cases: overnight data enrichment of a 50k-company spreadsheet, offline research, classification, evals
- API shape mirrors OpenAI's Batch API (upload JSONL → create batch → poll → download)
- Batch requests don't count against Agent API rate limits (token limits still apply); inputs/outputs retained 30 days; available to all API organizations except zero-data-retention ones
