8 CA keys compromised: Python warns devs to urgently update pip, certifi, uv
VeryWellVersed · x · 2026-10-23
Python's security team issued an urgent warning after a certificate authority compromise exposed 8 CA keys, some weak enough to crack almost instantly. Attackers could impersonate python.org and PyPI, trick environments into malicious downloads, and older pip versions may still trust compromised certs even after OS patches — developers should update pip, certifi, uv and related tools now; existing Docker images may also be at risk.
