VikParuchuri · x · 2026-10-23
VikParuchuri, author of Marker, shared lite mode's results on OmniParseBench (documents without math): 75.1, far ahead of Azure Read's 42.3, and it also beats Azure Layout on text.
The gap is widest on non-Latin scripts: 97% on Armenian, 97% Ethiopic, 95% Kannada, versus Azure Layout's 21%, 14%, and 9%. The author notes lite mode still struggles with handwriting and complex layouts including tables, and the team is actively improving it and soliciting feedback.
