Non-dev used Claude Code to build pizzeria ordering app, saving restaurants from DoorDash's 30% cut
PolarisXvi · reddit · 2026-10-22
An indie maker with no formal dev training built Nomback, a service that gives local restaurants their own direct-ordering apps to escape DoorDash's 25-30% per-order commissions.
- Claude Code did nearly the whole stack: the Expo app, Supabase edge functions, Stripe Connect for direct restaurant payouts, a Clover POS integration, and a Playwright test suite
- How it works: customers order direct so the restaurant keeps the margin, while dashers still get paid via DoorDash Drive on the back end
- What AI couldn't do: land the first customer — that took walking in with a phone and showing the owner his own menu in the app
The first restaurant is live with regulars ordering through it. Demo at nomback.com.
