Matt Pocock shares two AI coding session tricks: /wayfinder for planning, /grill-me for vague specs
mattpocockuk · x · 2026-10-23
TypeScript educator Matt Pocock shared two concrete techniques in his AI coding workflow:
- /wayfinder: used as an escape valve when a task will clearly take more than one session to plan — it helps split and route the work across sessions.
- /grill-me, one question at a time: used when he has "REALLY no idea what I'm building" — when the problem is hugely underspecified and a single Q&A round could send the project in massively different directions. The model interrogates him question by question to converge on requirements before writing code.
Both are copy-paste prompt patterns; the underlying idea is to have the agent interview you first instead of diving straight into implementation.
