ICLR reviewers complain: submissions read like course project reports
AlfonAmayuelas · x · 2026-10-22
Researcher Alfonso Amayuelas says he just finished ICLR reviews and is "not sure if this is the best use of my time." Another researcher, Zhiyu Chen, replied that all the papers she reviewed "read like the report of a course project."
The exchange reflects a widely shared frustration in the AI research community over ballooning submission volumes and declining review quality at major conferences.
