Codex is painfully slow, Claude over-refuses: one developer stuck between both
not_rian · reddit · 2026-10-22
The poster upgraded their Codex subscription (previously using it only as a consult for Claude Code) and complains that Codex inference is abysmally slow, with faster speeds gated behind expensive extra billing. Still, they have to keep using Codex because Claude keeps throwing cyber/refusals and moralizing lectures for developing gaming plugins that don't break any rules. Verdict: both have serious flaws, but at least Codex doesn't lecture.
