Grok in X DMs randomly demands the user open Cursor's Privacy Mode settings
JasonBotterill · x · 2026-10-22
Developer Jason Botterill found Grok, appearing in his X/Twitter DMs, suddenly telling him to open Cursor settings. The screenshot shows Cursor's dialog "Bots need Cursor's Privacy Mode": the legacy Privacy Mode blocks cloud agents, and switching can't be undone.
A bot popping UI for an unrelated product inside DMs is both funny and a glimpse of how tangled agent permissions and privacy-mode settings currently are.
