Microsoft's Guardian Agents treat enterprise AI agents as insider threats

Microsoft introduced new security features that monitor enterprise AI agents as potential insider threats, headlined by Guardian Agents:
- Part of Project Perception (June), which uses red/blue/green agent teams to attack, detect and fix vulnerabilities
- Follows Satya Nadella's stance that enterprises shouldn't rely on model providers' safety assurances and should separate the supply of intelligence from authority over it; security chief Hayete Gallot said frontier models are unpredictable regardless of origin and often over-privileged
- Microsoft Defender adds detection of up to 60 agent types including Claude Code and Codex, plus access limits, task-based permissions and human approval for risky actions
- Microsoft is also a founding member of Nvidia's Open Agent Safety Platform
