opencode UX bug: user-run shell commands collapsed like agent tool calls
minorcell · ghdev · 2026-10-22
A GitHub issue on anomalyco/opencode reports that in the web/desktop clients, shell commands the user runs with the ! prefix are collapsed by default, reusing the agent tool-call renderer (SessionShellMessage/BasicTool). Under the default compact timeline preset, timelineDetail().shell.details === "collapsed", so users must click to see output of commands they explicitly ran. The reporter pinpoints the relevant code in session.ts, session-timeline-row.tsx, and detail.ts, and asks for an expanded-by-default presentation for user-initiated commands.
