Power is the new bottleneck: NVIDIA DSX co-designs grid and AI factories, targeting 100GW unlock
NVIDIA Blog · rss · 2026-10-22
At GTC Berlin, NVIDIA detailed adoption of its DSX AI Factory platform, arguing power is now infrastructure's biggest bottleneck: over 200GW of projects sit in US interconnection queues and more than $300B in equipment is backlogged, largely because grid, facility and compute have been designed in silos. DSX components:
- DSX Sim: jointly simulate grid, substation and AI factory before construction.
- DSX Flex: syncs AI factory demand with grid conditions, turning data centers into flexible grid assets.
- DSX MaxLPS / DSX Exchange: squeeze more compute per watt and share signals across compute, networking, energy, cooling and ops.
- Partners include GE Vernova, Hitachi Energy (DSX Ready battery storage), Schneider Electric (Vera Rubin power/cooling reference architectures, Omniverse digital twin) and Siemens Energy. Phaidra delivers 10% more compute in the same power envelope; Emerald AI models up to 100GW of untapped US grid capacity via this approach.
