Node.js patches 4 high-severity flaws including RCE and TLS hostname bypass

Node.js shipped patches for 4 high-severity vulnerabilities the same day PHP patched its own. The worst, CVE-2026-111497 in the Brotli decoder, allows remote code execution; more alarming are two flaws that let attackers bypass TLS hostname verification — an app could accept a certificate that doesn't belong to the server it's talking to.

Remediation steps: check node -v and update if older than v22.23.4, v24.22.1, or v26.12.1; rebuild Docker images since updating local machines doesn't touch production; Node.js 18/20 have no patches available and require migration. The attached screenshot shows an AI coding agent SSHing into a VPS to verify advisories and perform the upgrade in about 2 minutes.
