Nokia, T-Mobile and NVIDIA complete first live AI-RAN call on a commercial cell site

On October 21, 2026, Nokia, T-Mobile and NVIDIA completed a live AI-RAN call on a commercial cell site in Bellevue, running Nokia anyRAN software on NVIDIA Aerial RAN Computer GPU servers connected to a production 5G core. Author shashib argues edge AI workloads need low latency — vision agents and robots can't wait for distant data centers. Nokia's path puts GPUs at the cell site so one box runs both radio functions and external AI; Ericsson instead runs AI on silicon already in the field, saying first features need no new GPU hardware. This is the first production deployment after earlier anyRAN tests with T-Mobile, Indosat and SoftBank.
