Applied Compute launched Shift-1, a frontier coding router trained on AC2 that cuts coding agent costs by up to 55% with no noticeable quality drop. Unlike per-task routers, it routes at every model request level. They argue routing is a critical part of the model infrastructure stack and now let anyone train a router for any workload on AC2.
