MiniMax ref2video on an RTX 5090: 40 minutes for an 8-second 3D character clip
posseduto · reddit · 2026-10-21
Reddit user posseduto shares their experience with MiniMax's default ref2video template for placing a character into 3D video: input is a character sheet + a character-free reference video + a detailed AI-written prompt. Quality is good, but speed is the bottleneck — 8 seconds at 900x400 takes 40 minutes even on an RTX 5090, followed by upscaling.
They tried several turbo LoRA JSON workflows, but none followed the fed video as faithfully as the default template, and they're asking for a faster working setup. The attached frames show the generated 3D scene with reasonably consistent results.
