Vercel Functions adds WebSockets on all plans for AI streaming and realtime apps

Vercel announced WebSockets are available on all plans: Vercel Functions can now serve WebSocket connections for interactive AI streaming, chat, and collaborative apps.
Each connection is pinned to one Function instance for its lifetime, and Fluid compute lets a single instance handle multiple connections. Upgrade requests start as HTTP GETs and pass through the same routing middleware, Firewall rules and rate limits as other requests; you can use libraries like ws with no extra configuration. Quoters noted the fun full-circle detail: Vercel founder Rauche Guillermo Rauch created socket.io.
