Dream Labs launches Dream-1 robot foundation model API at $3/hour, betting on cloud robotics

Dream Labs came out of stealth with Dream-1, a robot foundation model that controls bimanual robots it has never seen, on tasks it was never shown, in places it has never been — priced at $3/hour, with the Dream API live for everyone today.
Juan Benet amplified the launch along with Chris Paxton's take: the era of cloud-based, API-based robotics is here — few will run the best models locally, and the same forces that drove LLM scaling will drive robotics too.
