Codex App bug: plain-text heading replacement wrongly triggers "Invalid LaTeX code"
liu2675712289 · ghdev · 2026-10-17
Issue #54777 on openai/codex reports that the Codex desktop app (v26.1013.40934, Windows) incorrectly shows an "Invalid LaTeX code" error when handling a simple plain-text heading replacement. Entering a prompt asking to replace a heading with plain text triggers the LaTeX renderer, even though no math is involved. The reporter notes this breaks academic writing workflows mixing Chinese text, English headings, and LaTeX, and suspects the Markdown/LaTeX rendering component or response formatting. The issue has 5 comments.
