Beacon raises $5.5M seed for open-source cross-tool memory layer for coding agents

Beacon is an open-source memory layer for AI coding agents that tackles the pain of re-explaining your project every time you switch tools. It persists sessions across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and 20+ harnesses, continuously distilling them into reusable skills so the next agent inherits prior debugging habits and context — one command hands off the work.
Backer Asymptote Labs just closed a $5.5M seed round. The founders argue the next leap in AI coding won't come from OpenAI or Anthropic, but from a new feedback loop that learns from you — letting users, not frontier labs, benefit from their own session data. The project is on GitHub under MIT (1.8k stars, 171 forks).
