Arda, the industrial-AI startup founded by former OpenAI research exec Bob McGrew, has come out of stealth with Felicis joining the round, at a $1.5 billion valuation (CNBC).
- Its first product is an AI agent that turns CAD files into assembly instructions; McGrew describes it as doing 'for manufacturing engineers what Claude or Cursor does for programmers.'
- It is already deployed across every division at defense tech company Anduril, cutting engineering workflows from 30 hours to 2.5.
- The three-act plan: generate instructions with the agent, then use them to train robotic production lines that adapt quickly to new designs, ultimately enabling domestic manufacturing of anything.
