Free No-Auth MCP Server Checks Backlink Placement, Anchors and Nofollow

h____ · reddit · 2026-10-20

A developer released linkbunny-checker, a free hosted MCP server that lets coding agents verify whether a published page actually links to you, with what anchor text, and whether it's nofollow—replacing manual view-source checking.

Core function: a single tool, inspectplacement, takes the page URL and expected destination URL and returns an outcome (found/notfound/indeterminate), each matching link's href, anchor text, rel tokens and nofollow flag, plus HTTP status, redirects and declared canonical. No account, API key or OAuth required.

Setup: Streamable HTTP, one command for Claude Code or Codex, or add as a custom connector in the Claude app.

Engineering details (useful for MCP server builders):

Limits: it only reads fetched HTML, so JS-injected links or bot-challenged pages can report notfound/indeterminate; it checks known links, doesn't discover backlinks. Listed in the official MCP Registry, with a browser version available.
