Outcome-as-a-Service: BetterCapital argues AI will replace SaaS by selling results
vaibhavbetter · x · 2026-10-20
BetterCapital lays out its "Outcome-as-a-Service" thesis: enterprises never wanted software itself — they bought Salesforce for more sales and Workday for HR coordination, yet SaaS ended up consuming human effort in setup, integrations and training, making the tool the job.
AI breaks that cycle. The real breakthrough isn't Copilots bolted onto SaaS but contracting for outcomes instead of seats or effort: no CRM, just closed deals; no analytics tools, just insights and actions. BetterCapital says it began investing in this shift in 2022–2023 and believes OaaS will replace — not evolve — SaaS as the defining model for the next generation of software businesses.
