NYU professor builds EdgeBar with Cursor: a floating macOS sidebar for Edge profiles
kchonyc · x · 2026-10-20
NYU professor Kyunghyun Cho found switching Microsoft Edge browser profiles clunky, so with Cursor's help he wrote EdgeBar in Swift — a zero-dependency floating macOS sidebar that lists all Edge profiles (with badge counts), focuses the right existing window on click, and routes any URL into a chosen profile via a quick popup (Esc to cancel). Open-sourced under MIT, it requires macOS 14+ and Swift 5.9+, with a bundle script that builds and ad-hoc codesigns the app so Accessibility grants persist. Also a nice case of AI helping a non-professional developer ship a real utility for an everyday pain point.
