GitHub tutorial: Continue Copilot app agent sessions in VS Code with context intact
GitHub Blog AI/ML · rss · 2026-10-20
GitHub published a tutorial on opening a Copilot app session directly in VS Code, keeping the conversation, diff, and isolated worktree intact so you never restart from scratch.
The workflow:
- Select "Open in VS Code" from a session; the editor opens the session's worktree with the conversation preserved in the sidebar
- Review agent changes line by line in Source Control, and keep prompting Copilot for explanations or revisions without re-describing the task
- Make manual edits (labels, renames, tests), run local validation via the integrated terminal, then commit and push to the pull request already tracking the session
The pitch: agent handles repetitive implementation, developer takes over for detailed review, local testing, and final polish, with the session, diff, and worktree moving with you.
