Same sources, same question: how Claude, NotebookLM and ChatGPT differ on one knowledge base

The author ran a side-by-side test: the same transcribed webinar corpus (with speaker names and section titles) was synced to Gemini Notebook and exposed to Claude and ChatGPT via an MCP connector—no uploads, just naming the folder in the prompt. On one question ("who is the human in the loop?"), Gemini Notebook gave a clean, sectioned high-level answer; Claude pulled granular points from individual sessions and linked every source; ChatGPT was shorter with tidy citations. Asked to explain the differences, Gemini summarized: NotebookLM does conceptual abstraction, Claude does granular source extraction with context, ChatGPT does taxonomy mapping with concise summaries. Takeaway: put sources in an "operational memory" outside any single platform so you can compare assumptions across models. Disclosure: the connector is the author's own product, Kurator; a 7-minute video walks through the setup.
