Claude Desktop Remote Control fails to init while standalone CLI works
turc1656 · ghdev · 2026-10-19
An issue in anthropics/claude-code reports that on Windows 10, sessions initiated in Claude Desktop (2.42304.0) with Claude Code 2.1.299 cannot use Remote Control: both the UI toggle and /remote-control return "Remote Control initialization failed", and phone-initiated sessions targeting Desktop fail with rcenablefailed.
- Desktop successfully registers local folders visible on mobile and web, but cannot establish usable sessions
- Key comparison: on the same PC, account, and network, the standalone claude remote-control CLI works correctly, with real-time sync across Desktop, web, and mobile
- Troubleshooting included restarts, re-auth, OAuth scope verification, and disabling telemetry; the previously filed #85086 was auto-closed as stale
