OpenAI dropped 722 AI-generated math papers in a day; can humans read them?

OpenAI released 722 AI-generated mathematics manuscripts in a single day, spanning algebraic geometry, number theory, PDEs and theoretical CS — including a 9/4 upper bound on the matrix multiplication exponent and the spacetime Penrose inequality. The third-party project Readable Intelligence aims to make them comprehensible via rewritten readable versions, argument paper maps, and an AI assistant, though only 6 of 722 papers are done. The thesis: a proof settles a question, but understanding it opens a thousand more — the bottleneck is shifting from generation to human comprehension.
