Codex Computer Use fails on Chinese Windows: URL-confidence error, local fix verified
Ace-Kelly · ghdev · 2026-10-16
An issue on openai/codex reports that on zh-CN Windows 11, native Computer Use can enumerate and activate Chrome/Edge windows but stops acquiring window state with a "could not determine the current browser URL with enough confidence" error, halting the turn. A narrowly scoped document-type predicate correction in the native helper restored window-state acquisition and browser interaction in both Chrome and Edge, verified on @oai/sky 0.7.8, desktop build 26.1013.31256, Chrome 155 and Edge 155. This adds verified evidence to #53026 (Korean locale, same class of bug); the author asks OpenAI to ship an official source-level fix rather than requiring users to patch signed executables.
