MOSS-Image SFT at 5B goes 4-step against Krea 2 Turbo at 12.8B in same-prompt shootout
TimeTruth2490 · reddit · 2026-10-19
LoRA trainer lvladikov ran his published prompt set through Krea 2 Turbo (with his 4-step LoRA) and OpenMOSS's new MOSS-Image SFT (with AK's 4-step LoRA) under identical conditions — 4 steps, no CFG, 4 NFE — with full-size images published on HuggingFace.
- Configs: Krea 2 Turbo is 12.82B and ships at 8 steps; MOSS-Image SFT is a 5B DiT with a Qwen3.5-9B text encoder, ships at 50 steps CFG 3, and needs LoRA distillation to reach 4 steps.
- Verdict: despite a self-admitted bias toward Krea (he spent months training its LoRAs), he finds MOSS really good — at 5.08B it delivers close results faster and with less compute, and both models have a place in open source. The comparison images show MOSS matching Krea closely on portrait quality and lighting.
- Both 4-step LoRAs run at strength 1.0; AK's MOSS LoRA is on HuggingFace.
