98 of the 300 most popular ComfyUI custom nodes haven't had a commit in over a year

Tired of ComfyUI updates breaking workflows with no way to tell if a node pack is dead or just quiet, the author built NodeWatch, a free tracker checking the top 300 packs by Comfy Registry downloads (out of 6,066 registered) nightly:
- 98 of the top 300 haven't had a commit in 12+ months (15 over two years), totaling 22.6M downloads. Big names include ComfyUIessentials, ComfyUIIPAdapterplus (both last committed April 2025), Impact Subpack, mxToolkit, TeaCache, and WD14-Tagger.
- Another 63 active packs are 'quiet' (6–12 months without a commit).
- 4 repos have vanished from GitHub but remain in the registry, including comfyui-reactor-node (#46, 579K downloads).
- VideoHelperSuite, SeedVR2VideoUpscaler, Lora-Manager, FastVideo, and others look possibly broken (3+ error-titled issues in 60 days).
- Only 12 of 293 packs with a pyproject declare a requires-comfyui version range — compatibility is guesswork.
- Across 296 packs: 6,400 open issues, 1,048 with error/fail/crash/broken in the title. 40 packs did push commits last week.
Includes per-pack status pages, a weekly-changes page, and a free email digest. The author stresses 'stale' can mean 'finished and stable' and welcomes feedback on thresholds.
