Paid Gemini Code Assist Standard user stuck with persistent 429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED for days
Nacho-Neko · ghdev · 2026-10-16
A Gemini Code Assist Standard subscriber reports that despite the Gemini CLI correctly recognizing their paid Standard tier, every request returns RESOURCEEXHAUSTED (429), persisting for days despite automatic retries. Suspecting the account was flagged or banned, they filed issue #29772 on google-gemini/gemini-cli asking Google to check account status and provide a path to unban. The issue remains in triage with little response, highlighting how paid users can get caught in quota/risk-control false positives with no clear recourse.
