Codex on Windows fails to load workspace settings as API returns 403 Cloudflare challenge
AAASIA1006 · ghdev · 2026-10-13
openai/codex issue #53609: the Windows desktop client (app package 26.1007.2314.0) persistently fails to load workspace settings for new chats. External Chrome access to ChatGPT and Work pages works fine, and the built-in browser can restore loading after login, but the desktop client keeps failing on retry.
Logs from 2026-10-13 16:17 (Asia/Shanghai) show /accounts/check/{version} and /settings/user returning HTTP 403 with a cloudflarechallenge error type, indicating requests are being blocked by Cloudflare bot verification. The reporter asks the team to investigate desktop request validation and workspace settings restoration, referencing issue #51917; the report includes only redacted diagnostics.
