What actually breaks local AI coding agents? Solar dev shares 9B model failure modes
dedly_project · reddit · 2026-10-19
The developer of Solar, a macOS AI app with an execution system called Cortex, is researching where local coding agents really break down. In his own tests with a 9B model, he found cases where the model correctly identifies an error but keeps running checks instead of fixing it.
He's asking Ollama-based coding agent users about their most frustrating recurring failures, which model/agent combos they use, and the one problem a better execution system should solve — real failures over theoretical improvements.
