gturbahn2 · ghdev · 2026-10-19
An issue on openai/codex reports a memory problem in the ChatGPT/Codex macOS desktop app (26.1013.31256):
- After a full restart, local tool servers keep accumulating. In 40 minutes, total app-family memory grew from 6035 MiB to 9732 MiB, with process count rising from 111 to 198, including 156 Node helpers.
- 11 concurrent copies each of code-review, app-tools, Todoist and other local services were observed; code-review copies alone totaled 942 MiB.
- Logs show 29 code-review server startups across 27 thread IDs, with "unknown conversation" / "Conversation state not found" errors.
- Archiving an idle chat didn't stop growth; swap hit 5GB with yellow memory pressure.
