Waze support confirms no Gemini integration as Pixel voice activation fails
Particular_Ask_1453 · reddit · 2026-10-19
A Pixel 8 Pro user found that saying "Hey Google" in Waze does nothing even with Gemini set as the default assistant. Waze support confirmed Gemini is not integrated into Waze and escalated the case. The user cites Google's own documentation claiming Google Assistant voice activation should remain available when Waze is in the foreground, and demands answers on whether this is a known issue, whether the documented behavior is still supported, and whether hands-free control will be restored. Support only pointed to the suggestion box.
