Moss speed tests: cutting steps from 50 to 20 slashes gen time from 27s to 11s
Winter_unmuted · reddit · 2026-10-19
A user benchmarked Moss's default 50-step CFG 3 workflow at lower step counts and found it holds up surprisingly well.
- Batch test timing: 50 steps took 27s, 30 steps 16s, and 20 steps just 11s from prompt to final image
- Quality loss at 20 steps is minimal; CFGs in the 6-7 range remain stable and "not overcooked," reminiscent of SDXL base
- Practical takeaway: dial in prompts and workflows at low step counts when iterating over many images, then refine at higher steps
- Comparison grids cover CFG 2-8 at 20/35/50 steps, with prompts styled via the ComfyUI-Krea2-PromptStyler node
Schedulers and samplers are still unexplored, so more speed gains may be possible.
