WebGPU birthday cake demo: blow out candles in your browser with MediaPipe and DepthART
sophiamyang · x · 2026-10-19
Sophia Yang released an open-source browser demo where you light a fingertip flame with a snap/pinch, hold it to a candle wick, and blow at the screen to extinguish it. Tech stack: depth and lighting ported from TypeGPU's Monocular Light Injection example, DepthART weights loaded at runtime from Hugging Face, MediaPipe Tasks for hand/face tracking, TypeGPU/WebGPU for rendering, and a blow detector tuned on breathing-classification and ESC-50 recordings. Keys toggle overlay, recording, flame, and saving hand data.
