One prompt, 5 videos: agent controls a Roku TV over local network API
Teknium · x · 2026-10-19
A user showed their Hermes agent controlling a Hisense Roku TV with a single prompt: it found and played 3 Hermes Agent videos and 2 Omarchy videos without touching the remote.
The surprise: Roku already exposes a local-network control API, and on their setup no developer mode or TV-side installation was needed. Reproducible steps: put computer and TV on the same Wi-Fi, tell the agent your TV brand/model, ask it to check the documented control method, and start with one simple action like opening YouTube. Compatible Android/Google TVs may support ADB over Wi-Fi. Full prompt included in the post.
