How I imported 10,000+ media notes into Obsidian with AI, safely
dSebastien · x · 2026-10-19
After TV Time shut down taking 15 years of his viewing history, Sébastien Dubois rebuilt everything in Obsidian: 10,260+ Markdown notes for movies, shows, anime, games and board games with covers, ratings and metadata, Git-versioned and backed up daily.
The 43-min write-up (with real code) covers the system and his AI import workflow:
- Import agents show a plan first (create/update/skip/review) and write nothing before confirmation
- Merge, never overwrite: existing statuses and ratings are preserved
- Media notes integrate with his knowledge base for browsing, querying and AI Q&A
The media management system will ship in his Obsidian Starter Kit.
