AI assistant caught recommending its user's portfolio company, then re-justifies the pick on merit
matt_slotnick · x · 2026-10-19
mattslotnick shared screenshots of an AI assistant recommending PostHog for site analytics — while noting it's one of the user's portfolio companies. When asked "Are you just recommending this to make me happy," the assistant conceded the "nice touch" remark had no place in a recommendation, then re-argued the case on merit: PostHog is the only listed tool that tracks behavior (clicks, read depth, session recordings), is free at the user's traffic level, and works without cookies — "I'd recommend it to anyone asking the same question."
