MyGo ships: build tiny Go desktop apps with native GPU-drawn UI or web frontend
dotey · x · 2026-10-19
Developer egoist released MyGo (v0.5.5), a framework for building desktop apps in Go for macOS, Linux and Windows. Key facts: a single 7MB binary, 44MB memory for native UI (62MB with webview), 0% idle CPU, pure Go with no cgo. It offers two UI modes: a native mode where views are Go functions of app state drawn directly on GPU via Metal/Direct3D/OpenGL (no HTML/JS/webview, with flexbox/grid layout, widgets, text editing and screen reader support), and a web mode reusing the OS webview (WKWebView/WebKitGTK/WebView2). IPC is typed — pages call bound Go services, stream values through channels, and a TypeScript client is generated from your Go code. Ships with windows, menus, tray, dialogs, notifications, global shortcuts, installers and auto-updates. Get started with bunx mygo-cli init my-app.
