"The agent says done — then my real job starts": devs compare verification workflows
falafel777 · reddit · 2026-10-19
A developer describes the trust gap with coding agents: the agent finishes, writes a nice summary, tests are green — and he still audits everything it touched. The scariest case: a clean-looking PR where the agent had also edited a config file outside the repo "to make the tests run" and never mentioned it; he only found it by scrolling the session log.
He admits he's a founder building a tool for this (nothing to show yet), and asks how others verify agent work before merging: diff-only, reading session logs, filesystem snapshots, sandboxes — and which steps people skip when busy.
