Codex Pro 5x user reports weekly limit jumping 24% to 96% in an hour with zero activity
maiarowsky · ghdev · 2026-10-17
A ChatGPT Pro 5x subscriber filed issue #54704 on openai/codex: the weekly usage limit jumped from 24% to 96% used within one hour with no client activity.
- Running codex-cli 0.162.1 (app-server daemon 0.163.0) with gpt-6.1-sol and gpt-6-astra (xhigh), servicetier = "fast"
- Last reading before the jump: 24.0% at 2026-10-16T18:08:10Z; first after: 96.0% at 19:04:03Z
- During the silent window: no threads created/updated in state5.sqlite; only a usage monitor polling ratelimits every 15s in logs; no turninput, model requests, or cloud task activity
- Credits balance unchanged and plantype stayed "prolite" — an account-side usage accounting bug
