AI art tools' biggest victims won't be Adobe, argues Reddit user — it's GIMP and open source

A Reddit discussion on who AI creative tools like Artcraft will actually hurt: not Adobe or Microsoft, the author argues, but open-source alternatives like GIMP, Inkscape, Scribus and LibreOffice — decent software with terrible UX that users will abandon once a smooth AI tool exists.
His advice for open-source maintainers: use AI as a tool and ship much faster (weekly releases), put users and UI first, build genuinely revolutionary features like Blender does, and treat AI as a friend rather than an enemy — or be forgotten.
