Anthropic nearly stops hiring junior staff as AI agents log 6x human hours
The Decoder · rss · 2026-10-18
Anthropic has nearly stopped hiring for junior technical roles: the share of junior positions among new hires fell from 27% to 9% since early 2025, per The Decoder. By August 2026, AI agents across the company were logging six times as many hours as humans.
Researchers warn of a "tragedy of the cognitive commons": if junior roles disappear, experienced specialists will be in short supply down the road — assuming they're even needed anymore.
