Harvard's free ML Systems curriculum: 34 interactive labs and TinyTorch, MIT Press 2026

Matt Dancho highlights Harvard professor Vijay Janapa Reddi's free Machine Learning Systems curriculum, arguing the real skill gap is turning models into production AI systems, not training them. The hands-on program covers ML systems fundamentals (deployment, serving, hardware acceleration, MLOps) and advanced engineering (GPU infrastructure, distributed training, large-scale inference, reliability). It includes 34 browser-based interactive labs, TinyTorch for building an ML framework from scratch, hardware deployment kits, the MLSys·im performance modeling tool, StaffML interview drills, full syllabi and 35 lecture decks. The textbook publishes via MIT Press in 2026 at mlsysbook.ai.
